Outline

March 2, 2019

The day has finally come where I can show you guys the outline of our film opening that the team and I have created. With an abundant amount of examples from professional films that have had great success and a lot of thinking throughout it, we have came up with really good ideas. After writing different thoughts down, we have came up with list of steps and chronological scenes for our film opening.

Outline

Let’s begin with the establishing shot. We are trying to have the first shot to be of lonely place in the woods where no one seems to be around but only a family who is burying a dead person.
We would then like to have a close up of the gravestone.
Then translates to a flash back-in black and white of the dead people in the floor but not revealing how it happened to keep everything very mysterious and thriller type.
After this, a cut back to all the men around the gravestone, looking upset and holding hands.

After all of those scenes we want to show the title of the film.
It translates to a close up of a clock ticking that will create intensity. We will like to create a foley sound of a ticking sound that sounds like an actual clock ticking.
Then we would like a medium shot of a kid tapping on a desk with a pencil but it will hide the kid’s face to create suspense.
Then the mom will open the door harshly and very exaggerated and take away the pencil away fro, the kid. This will be divide into two shots and both being medium shots.
This will lead to a close up of kid being frustrated. A medium shot after this will be taken showing the kid getting up and slamming the door.

Then, an eyeline match of weird and unknown drawings in the wall. This relates to our genre since the viewers don’t what the symbols mean or where they come from. However, they will be able to infer that the symbols have something to do with the death.

After this, there will be a shot of mom sitting on desk and focus given to her hand with a crumbled paper.
An over the shoulder shot of her holding up the paper and looking at it.
The same shot will start zooming in the paper, showing the symbol.

This outline might change as we move forward and think of more ideas. We want to think of the dialogue that will be put in so we can add it to the outline. As stated before, this dialogue might change later in the future but it’s extremely important that we have a planning and something to refer to.

I hope to see you all again very soon! :))
