Adventure

  1. Adventure

  1. Fast camerawork. Provides an energetic experience for the film viewer and includes chasing, fighting, overcoming obstacles and a certain goal that needs to be reached or something that needs to be overcome. Adventure films are composed of nature like settings and exotic places like for example in the jungle. In most adventure films, the protagonist discovers a hidden talent or power. Usually, the protagonist gets held with innocent people who are part of the adventure. They also consist of chase scenes which are very violent. Adventure films are mainly about heroic journeys or searches for the unknown. What the hero faces along the way changes him as a person or gives him an understanding.

  1. Special effects are used to create a more live scene for the viewer as well as sound effects. A production design used is Realism which is created with natural lighting and environmental sounds. This is often used so the viewer is more focused with the film and can live with the main character’s conquests, explorations, travels, struggles and situations. Sounds effect that is used in adventure films are diegetic sound that provides the scene in the narrative world. Each scene usually starts with an establishing shot, perhaps an image setting up the location or a wide shot of a building, street or landscape. The following shots are of the character and his power to what’s around him.

  1. Using niche social marketing. These companies can advertise their films to the specific audience (people who are into adventure films). Also, they can target their adventure films by categorizing which movie is for who and discarding the movies which have genres that one may not be in to. A great example of this would be how Netflix targets. “Because you watched this…” but it’s just targeting the same genre. Celebrities can also be used to target adventure films by targeting those who engage and are big followers to that celebrity. Another way adventure films can target their product is by selling important crops used in the films like the wand in the Harry Potter films.

  1. Up - This movie is mainly a man who always wanted to travel to South America. A little guy named Russel sets up a bunch of balloons attached to his house and are on a journey to the man’s wanted destination. From the moment they fly up to the sky and in the nature like place, there are many obstacles the two guys got to overcome. The goal is to complete the trip and during this journey, things are not easy and their only way to get through it is to work together. Because it’s such a long and hard journey to overcome, it falls under adventure.

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - A tale of adventure which takes place in the Caribbean Sea. It’s about a quest of Captain Jack Sparrow who’s is in search of his love, Elizabeth Swann. She was kidnapped and has with her a coin which cointains a curse that has transformed the pirates into the undead. Not only is Captain Jack Sparrow in hunt of her love, but also that special coin. Getting to her won’t be easy and if things aren’t done correctly, things for the captain will get ugly.
